Actors that give one great performance and the rest of their roles suck

Best example I can think of is Nicolaus Cage in Leaving Las Vegas. He really showed some chops but pretty much the rest of his performances have been garbage.

jamie fox has had a couple of hits in recent memory with django and collateral.. and i typically find his acting meh.. but man he was amazing in ray.

bad lieutenant was fun stuff. i actually saw that earlier this year. he was all coked out
i remember when he was filming the movie he actually got arrested by nopd for acting a fool..?? guess he was really staying true to his character..
