Mack Brown is contractually obligated to receive at least $500,000 annually through 2020, but Texas’ soon-to-be former head football coach is pushing for a lot more.

Don Evans, a former UT regent and one-time U.S. Secretary of Commerce, is involved with Brown’s buyout negotiations with school officials, said Joe Jamail, Brown’s attorney and Texas benefactor.

Brown, who resigned Dec. 14 but will coach in Monday’s Alamo Bowl, is seeking as much as $1.3 million annually for the next seven years — the duration of his existing contract — under the title of special assistant to Texas President Bill Powers, a source with knowledge of the talks said.

How is a school like Texas to truly succeed to it's max possibilities, when Billionaire BoRs like JJ, are more interested in threatening his peers and taking his ball and going home, if UT cans a 2 Conference Crown guy in 16 years?

In getting his best buddy a max legacy payout from the deep school coffers, rather than in making a legit all-out effort at landing Saban?

Not an hour later, read an Randy Galloway article up the same vein.. www.star-telegram.com/at-ut-even-the-rich-can-be-stupid

He wasn't fired. He decided to step down so how is Texas obligated to pay him?

Good point. Mack's true excessively greedy character is showing. But many will still think of him as a legend.

I'd seek as much as I could get as well. Good for Mack. I hope he gets 5M a year doing absolutely nothing.

This alone will insure that Saban and any other coach with a brain in his head does NOT got to Texas

Having back room conversations with Mack and $$$ people going on while you are trying to rebuild and coach a team is a formula for failure

crony corruption works if your part of the team. THe only way this makes sense is if some super rich booster likes mack as pet. Than the super rich booster will give money to texas to cover mack's dog food, i mean salary, so the super rich booster can walk mack and pretend to be important.

Very true. Texas football is screwed now and for the future IMO.
