Why does Mack have Texas by the shorthairs? An outfit with the money and clout of Texas could just kick his old arse to the curb, pay his buyout and back up the Brinks truck to whatever coach they want to run the show. Instead, they pussy foot around and "let" Mack "step down" and keep him employed in the administration AND are willing to pay him his full contract?

Makes no sense.

He wasn't fired. He decided to step down so how is Texas obligated to pay him?

In that vein, how is it that A&M had to pay Dennis Franchione $4(?) Million over 3 years after his fat arse "resigned"?

for one buyout clauses. His agent negotiated that.

UT needs a "Red Wedding from GOT" to happen to one side of their boosters.

Freek, if your listening, this could be a pretty good GIF.

He did make a veiled threat about writing a book about his experiences at Texas during his resignation presser. This has extortion written all over it.

I'd love for them to countersue for extortion. This clown show would get even better.

he should get it.

he brought that school a ton of money and turned around their program in a big way.

it would be a good idea to also make sure he doesn't go back into coaching to prevent the off chance he has success while the new Texas hire doesn't. It's much better for them to have Mack essentially associated only with Texas rather than Texas being one of Mack's successful coaching stops.

Mack is on the warpath right now. I'd pay him his money and keep his drama out of the spotlight.

He is going into survival mode and trying to get every penny he can. We would probably do the same.
Mack's job prospects are probably not that good. I don't think he is ESPN material.

Let's continue to watch Texas and their fans dump on their second greatest coach of all time and think they can easily get a better coach.

Having back room conversations with Mack and $$$ people going on while you are trying to rebuild and coach a team is a formula for failure

Why the head banging? Are you a Texas Alum or fan? You have a LSU logo beside your name. A down TX can only help LSU recruit the State of TX. That would be good for LSU or are you mad and blame Mack that Saban will not be their coach and will have to continue be his bitch while he's at Bama.

That's what is so funny. They think it is automatic that they will hire a winner instead of a Fran. It took them 4 coaches and 40 years to get back to relevance after DKR resigned. Mack was the best thing to happen to them in a long time, and his legacy is being shite on by that university.

Not quite. Fred Akers kept winning after Royal.

I'd cut your down-spell timeframe to 15 years, max. Royal resigned in '76, and Akers had several great teams up until the 1984 season. Brown was hired in 1998.

Yes... "Fran." An apt example of a school that talked shite non-stop over an ultimate dud.
