Ranch Dressing Recipe

I have tried just about every recipe I can find but just can't seem to get it like the restaurants. I've tried hidden Valley and most of those I can find on the internet. I absolutely hate anything from a bottle with ascorbic acid and preservatives. I like a good creamy ranch more then a tart / tangy Ranch. If I could give specifics I absolutely love Mike Andersons Ranch. The ranch at Jasons Deli is good too. Those are more creamy than bitter.

Try making the HVR and thinning it with buttermilk. You could also use mayo instead of sour cream.

The hidden Valley ranch mix you make yourself tastes like restaurant Ranch. Mix, cup of mayo, cup of milk.

Add ground up crackers. Makes a difference.

I've tried every possible combination of HVR, mayo, milk, buttermilk, sour cream, cream, half and half, etc.. Even tried fresh dill, fresh garlic, fresh cracked black pepper. Just can't get the right taste / texture.

My favorites in BR are the Chimes and Mike Andersons.

Add kefir and lots of lime and lemon zest to the hidden valley ranch mix directions. Works everytime.

2 to 1 buttermilk to mayo ratio, hidden valley seasoning packet. 1.5 to 1 if you like it thicker.

I'm not a ranch mix dressing fan, but google Ina Garten's ranch dressing recipe. It's very good. Her Green Goddess recipe is really good also and similar to ranch.

Green Goddess is an invention of Warren Le Ruth for a dressing/food company in the 60's.
