Just received one at a white elephant party and was wondering if they are worth while.

No, but I would try it out. When I think of Wok cooking, I think high heat. I'm curious to see how hot it would get. Put an equal amount of water in it and your sautee skillet. See which one boils fastest.

I had a T-Fal one back in the day, it was alright but it never got near the temp needed to really do justice to stir fry, fried rice, etc.

Was wondering the same thing. The temperature control goes up to 420.

Might make a good deep fry rig.

My mom had one when I was in highschool. We cooked many a dish on that wok and it worked fine.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, just try it out, you might like it. If it isn't to your liking, clean it real well and regift next year.

Same here, had one when I was married. It was OK to cook in, but a real wok on a gas grill is what you need if you want to do it right.

Electric's just don't have the arse to keep up when you've got a full pot.
