All joking aside, if Saban does leave this will look terrible in the public eye.

And I think that may matter to him these days. All the comments he and his wife made were made for a reason. Here's the only "scoop" I really have. Saban told the mother of a recruit he wasn't going anywhere just 2 weeks ago. I know his word doesn't mean much to most people but it would be a special kind of fricked up to be pulling shite like that.

"Who cares? Money!! WEEEEEeeeeeee! Hook 'em!"

I think that is their credo, and apparently Saban's

He's spent seven years trying to live down that comment from when he was at the Dolphins. Now, he has specifically gone out of his way on 60 Minutes, Sportscenter w/ Tom Rinaldi, and FS1 w/ Erin Andrews, and said he wasnt leaving. If he leaves, his legacy and reputation are forever in tatters. He'd be really stupid to do that to himself.

Tommy Tuberville excused himself during dinner with a recruit to accept the job at Cincy about this time a year ago. The recruit thought he was just going to use the restroom.

The bar is as low as it can get. He specifically said he wasn't taking the Bama job before he took it. Anyone who would be surprised is foolish.

Well, two weeks ago Mack and Texas still had a shot at the Big XII title and saving his job. So at the time, Saban wasn't leaving.

Of course things change but I don't know if they change this much in a month.

Public don't care because they would have a winning team.

Are you shitting me? This has been done many times before with him. Go look at his press conference when he coached the Dolphins. The only people he told that he wasn't going anywhere was the world. I'm not saying, but I'm just saying.

In Tuscaloosa. Win a title at Texas and nobody outside of Bama will care about him leaving there.

It's just one recruit. He has to tell them that in case he's still at Alabama. This is the process.

he'd be stupid for passing on that money. Imagine his legacy if he won a NC at Texas too.

He hit bottom with "Alright, you want me to say it? I will not be the next coach at Alabama"

This is a walk in the park compared to that

i have been on record many times saying i didn't think he was going anywhere, but i don't think any of the reasons being given in this thread matter all. if he wanted to go to texas he would do it and none of this periphery stuff would mean a thing.

i think it comes down to two things, 1) his age and 2) why make a lateral move? Every stop in his career made at least some sort of logical sense at the time. But now it's literally moving from one college power to another just to do it. That doesn't make any sense at all.

The shattering of what credibility he has left, what he's tried to repair since leaving Miami, is the only reason I think he might stay. I don't think his ego will let another move tarnish his legacy. I don't believe he likes being branded a liar and a turncoat.
