Must have been disappointing. Just received an email from ticket office to purchase tickets to the Outback Bowl. If LSU were in the Cotton Bowl I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have received that email.

You're probably right seeing how the Cotton Bowl was the only bowl I put in a request for. I'm pretty low on the totem pole so I doubt I would have received the 4 tickets I requested. May have gotten 2 if that.

I would set the o/u on requests at 4,000

I'm not even on the totem pole. They sent that to the public.

I seriously doubt that we travel very well to this game, and I think that's a shame. While it's true it's not a very sexy match up, at least it's a New Year's Day Bowl and we're not going back to the damn CFA Bowl. Iowa fans outnumbered us about 5-1 at the 2005 Capital One Bowl. LSU fans trying to make a statement by not attending better hope that we don't get a bad rep for not traveling well like we did back in the 90's. Nobody wanted us then.

That's the thing, we complain when bowls don't take us, but we only make it worse for the next time around, when we have a poor arse showing

I'd imagine that our unfamiliarity with the Outback bowl would lead to the low number of initial requests.

Ticket sales to any non-BCS Bowl this year would be slow. LSU fans have been to Dallas quite a bit lately. No one wants to go back to Atlanta. Florida bowls are farther away and more expensive.

Add the fact LSU fans aren't happy the last two years and you have the making of slow ticket sales.

Exactly. It's like we feel we're somehow too good for a non-BCS bowl. News flash...we lost to freakin Ole Miss. We don't deserve to sniff the BCS this year, but we've got a chance to finish with 10 wins, get a bit of revenge for what happened in 2005, and start of 2014 on a good note.

I also think that Dec. 31/Jan. 1 being in the middle of the week will hurt as well.

The rich folks and upper management types will be able to go, but those who work for someone or who are business owners or contractors like me won't be able to go without much difficulty.

That's funny because Iowa will bring at least 20,000. From Iowa.

In 2005, it was about 60/40 Iowa/us.

It's 19 degrees in Iowa City and 76 in Tampa.

It looks bad when the team from Iowa brings more fans than the team from Louisiana, when you're playing in Florida.

You're paying for a flight whether it's from LA or IA. Plus, Iowa fans use bowl games in FL as a break from Winter.

Yep. Not so long ago we used to brag that we didn't just travel, we take over. Not the case anymore. Our fans bitched when we went to the Capital One Bowl a few years ago, they bitched about going to the CFA Bowl last year, now they bitch about going to the Outback Bowl.

Teams in the North and Midwest that have solid fanbases use the bowl game each year as their opportunity to leave the winter. Most will spend a week or more in FL.

LSU fans are driving or flying over for a 2-day trip.

Don't guess, its true. These three SEC vs. B1G games on NYD in FL almost always have more B1G fans there for two reasons:

- Retiree transplants living in FL
- Fans use the bowl game as a FL winter vacation
