The only one that comes to mind is Ozymandias in Watchmen. Other than that, I can't think of any.

From the smirk at the end of Avengers I'd assumed Loki's real goal was to get back to Asgard for the opportunity for a power play

He's the antagonist. Granted, I do agree with Ozymandias though and would have gone along for the ride, even if it meant I was technically a super villain.
