Same here. They want to get this one right.

They have seen the issues a lot of games with massive multiplayer elements have experienced lately.

Plus there will be a beta people will be able to play to help some cope with the waiting period.

I'm in the Beta, it's supposed to start pretty soon I think, wonder if it got pushed back too?

this, i had it preordered from amazon, but it had nothing about beta invite. then i looked at a destiny add, and it said to purchase from amazon via their website for invite, so i pre ordered it that way. and got confirmation of invite when it comes out

Yeah they said they want as many people as possible to participate in their beta.

I don't think it has to do with other games at all, probably has to do with all the server problems that occurred with games over the years. They want to make sure this thing works as best as it can near launch so it's not a bomb.
