Why does the media have some weird love affair with Aaron Craft?

I don't get it. He's a solid point guard and a very good perimeter defender, but he has to be the most overrated and overhyped college basketball player in recent memory.

He's a less athletic Scottie Wilbekin without the off-the-court issues. Good player. Deserving of even a fraction of the hype he's gotten over the past few seasons? Not even close.

I mean he's one of the best PG in the country. Smart, great defender, great leader.

He's white, he hustles, and he's a four year starter.

Because he is a good white player at a powerhouse school who has been there for 7 years.

ESPN may have a love affair with him, but he is a pretty cool dude. I played football with him in HS and he's one of my good friends. If he doesn't go to the NBA hell become a doctor, that's how smart he is. And you won't find another superstar athlete as humble and nice as he is. I've never seen him treat anyone like they weren't a friend of his, and he's never been cocky.

Are you seriously asking the media not to overhype a white, tough, scrappy, coach on the floor, actually good basketball player?

4 year starters with 3.9 gpas are pretty rare, especially at a factory like Ohio State (or just about any state school).

Look at his +\-

He's far from as overhyped as you're implying

I think he's good too, but +/- means practically nothing.

FACT...... I love his passion and drive. But he would ride the bench at Duke.

It's solid.

But even according to this stat, he's a lesser Scottie Wilbekin.

If Lebron and MJ had a basketball baby and he went to OSU and put up 40/20/10 a night, this board would find a way to say he's overrated. I don't like OSU as much as the next guy but damn, everything OSU related is deemed overrated here

Has nothing to do with OSU.

Has everything to do that he's an overrated basketball player.

Look, I love his passion, drive, work ethic, etc. Does that change that he's an overrated basketball player? No.

No one tries to claim he's anything that he's not? No one claims he's a deadly shooter or scoring threat. They talk about his heart, defense, leadership, and IQ. And he lives up to all that

Do you seriously think he's anywhere close to the #8 player in college basketball? Seriously?

He's incredibly overhyped.

He has the 3rd highest steal percentage in Big Ten history, 1st highest Steals per game in Big Ten history.

6th highest assists per game in Big Ten history.

17th highest in Points Produced in Big Ten history (with a whole season to go).

I could go on

Eh, I think it depends on the type of player. As a PG and the guy who usually takes he opposing team's best offensive player, I think it's a solid indicator of how much he means to Ohio State.

8? Maybe not. Close to 8? Yes. Intangibles have to be factored into how good of a player you are. I think he's top 15, with a case for top 10. He's the best player on a top 5 team right now
