I'm interested in both of these. Both are also capable of either a traditional scope or scout scope. Which would you prefer?

Ruger scout or a BAR, take the BLR off your list

I like the BAR too, but I don't own a lever action rifle.

Nothing about the Scout concept is appealing to me. Levers are nostalgic fun, but otherwise a bad choice. Yeah, I was a lot of help.

What'll be it's primary purpose?

Of those two, I would take the scout.

If I'm buying a lever gun, it would most likely be a Henry Big Boy.

On my bucket list as well. It's one of the most beautiful rifles on the planet.

And I miss a lever action. No scope either. I can't wait.

You guys are right. I should probably just get a .44 mag in a lever.

Never hunted with a bolt action or lever action (for deer)

BAR and a TC pro hunter is all I've hunted with and it's been all I needed.

Like my GSR though I have the 18" SS bbl. Local shop has a limited green laminate 16" blued version though I almost got but this one was a better deal.

BLR is a nice gun too. Lever gun that can shoot magnum rifle cartridges... Just a lot more money than the GSR.

ditto
i've had a chance to shoot one and it is a really well made gun. nice fit and finish, handy size, good fire power with 20 rounds of .308, but it is LOUD

Only have 10rd mags for the scout. Definitely worth using the 20% card that comes with the rifle to buy extra polymer mags though. The AICS mags are heavy duty but a pain to load. Ruger must be making some good coin off these guns to package them with an $80 magazine.

I would imagine the Scout rifle would be easy to shoot out of a deer blind. As far as lever action, I'm actually now leaning towards the Henry .357.
