If he was doing his usual whining then that makes that much sweeter.

I mean he was right. There was a second left. It's not like the kick was that far off either.

Every coach in the nation would be trying to get that 1 second put on.

Correct, but he should've just let it go.

How is it smart to let a freshman kicker attempt a 57 yarder?

How is it smart not to?

Better chance he makes it, which he almost did, than what happened happening.

The kick was three yards short and two yards to the right.

Because if he makes it you have an undefeated season? Play to win the game for fricks sake.

Any coach worth their salt would have argued for that 1 second. The problem arrives at what Saban decided to do with the 1 second. Hail Mary seemed like the ideal play call but Saban knows his kicker better than us. Still, I felt it was a HUGE mistake not kicking the FG on 4th down earlier.

It fell two yards short in distance and about 5 feet in height.

So he kicked it about 53 yds

I like the fact that he decided not to kick a short FG earlier in the 4th quarter, and then went for a 57 yard FG at the buzzer. What a stupid idiotic series of coaching decisions.

Greater chance of hitting a Hail Mary than making a 57 yard FG with a Freshman whose previous long was 20.

If he is capable of making it, I would bet the majority of coaches would make the decision to let the redshirt freshmen take the kick.

Never said he was wrong. As the coach he should have never been trying to kick that FG with a freshman kicker. Yea he may look like a great kicker at practice but a game of that importance with that pressure cant be the same kicker. Should have kneeled it and went to OT.

Not at all.

That's actually a pretty easy touchdown. It's just a matter of a team attempting a FG that long.

You have to outrun 9 offensive lineman, a kicker, and the holder.

He only had one attempt before though right? I'm sure Saban is a smart enough coach to know the kid could get pretty close.

I mean for the love of God, people are blasting the best coach in cfb after a guy returned a kick 109 fricking yards and came about an inch and a half from stepping out along the way. Sports are crazy, sometimes people just make legendary plays.
