Or has anyone here ever shot one? If so, thoughts? I may pick one up.

It looks awesome, and I've been wanting a lever action rifle for a while. Thanks.

I've got a Henry 22 lever action that I love. Will never get rid of that gun. If the 44 is as dependable I say go for it.

I've got a Henry M0001 .22 lever action that is silky smooth. I want the .357/.38 Henry with a passion. Already have the ammo.

I have a Henry Golden Boy and have shot a regular Henry Lever 22. Awesome guns.

Father in law has a Marlin 1894 44 mag and it's the tits.

.44 rifles are badass. Prob my favorite one to shoot, except for the cost of ammo, but .44 reloads easy. I have never shot a Henry, except for the golden boy .22 and it was smooth. I would assume you won't be disappointed. I own an 1894 cowboy classic limited with the longer hexagon barrel and it is on the do not sell list. Keep the iron sights, don't frick it up with a scope.

So awesome. Oh, I wouldn't dream of using a scope. What a badass rifle. Yeah, the cost of ammo is a pain, but I already have .357 and .45, so I figured what the heck. Like I said earlier, I also miss shooting a lever action. And I love the Western look and feel.

I wonder if I should get the .44 Mag or the .45 Colt.

Suggestions?

Depends upon what you plan on using it for. Deer or hogs, I'd go .44. It's a wallop out to 100-150 with iron sights. The .45 will have a more manageable recoil thus making it more accurate, but the .44 would be my choice. It's a pleasure to shoot.

ETA: you will be tempted to get a .44 revolver as well if you get the rifle. S&W 29/629 prelock or ruger redhawk 7.5 inch.
Trust me , you will definitely want one if you don't already have one.

Id get a .44
Bullets are easier to find and about the same price. its got wayyy more power than your standard storebought .45lc load.

".45 LC guns sturdily enough to allow handloaders to exceed .44 magnum ballistics with the .45 LC, and at lower pressures."

I cast and reload so buying ammo for any calibre is a moot point
I own a 44 mag so I wont buy a 45lc I will most likely purchase a 35 Rem, 45-70 or 444 next
