Thinking about the 80's and 90's reminded me of movies that were billed as dramas or action thrillers that ended up so terrible and over the top that they are now seen as comedies.

Movies like Roadhouse, Point Break, Hard Ticket to Hawaii, various Schwarzenegger films, etc...

I know Sharknado could fit the bill as a most recent one. But what are some movies in the past 10-15 years that took it self very seriously that we will look back on and watch because of how cheesy and corny it was?

so did it have to be a reasonably succesful serious movie, that is terribly funny to watch now?

definitely Roadhouse. perfect example.

eta: something more recent would be speed racer, or the dragon ball z movie, or the avatar the last airbender movie.

The more successful, the better.

I guess Fast and the Furious movies would qualify in this

You're crazy

ETA - I guess it would depend on which Schwarzenegger films you're referring to, but I'm still having a hard time thinking of one I wouldn't call hilariously awesome.

Movies like Roadhouse

Hold on there fella, Roadhouse is a quintessential 80's action movie that was never defined as terrible, it is exactly what it was meant to be. If you want a terrible movie that took itself too seriously see Roadhouse 2.

When a man has to run from his past for ripping another man's throat out, serious drama/action ensues. If Swayze were alive today, he would surely throat rip someone for criticizing such a modern classic.

Batman & Robin (1997) But no one took that seriously.

I thought Drive in the end was pretty lame.

I never thought of Drive that way, I might now

Also, Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon (but it's seriousness could be questionable)
