Ya every thing I read says they shut it down pretty consistently across the board.

Vanilla Reloadable prepaid card, a prepaid card that has the unique feature of having a pin and other things. Features of the card allow you to put the money on the VR onto a bluebird checking account through walmart.

You can than pay off your credit card using the bluebird account I believe

So basically, you purchase a pre-paid card with your CC and get rewards points for the purchase... You then cash out the pre-paid card and pay off the CC with the same funds?

You got it.

But I usually disguise it a bit. I may buy the VR with Card #1, load VR to Bluebird, and pay off Card #2, and cycle through.

I want to make it at least a little bit challenging for them.

Hey Fro, found some VRs today so I'm good.

LSU, I started slow and was just paying rent at first, but last month I maxed out my bluebird at $5,000/5,000 points worth for the month on top of my regular spending which is about 4k a month.

FYI I used three separate cards for this one of them is my fiance's that way they can't see me spending 90 thousand dollars a year.

Eta: 5,000 is chump change if you can purchase them at a bonus category merchant

Yeah. Apparently that is true. I thought I bought my last prepaids from Office Depot but I obviously didn't as they wouldn't take my CC today...

Now, I will have to see if I can find merchant classified as "office supply" in the area.

Another thought...albeit extreme, but has me thinking I'm starting to agree w/ my wife on the "I have issues" thought.

use Paypal square to accept CC payments

I looked in to that as a method of liquidating giftcards before AMEX Prepaid/Bluebird. Everything I read says that you will get shut down very quickly for non-legit use...Though maybe it would work in that situation. I'd gladly buy some from you if it worked out.

I actually use Paypal for my business now. Paypal makes plenty off of me already, and it wouldn't be "non-legit" use. I would legitimately be selling prepaid visa cards.

I'll look in to it . I'll get one of those prepaid racks in my house, sell paper and office supply products to my company. I'm going to look in to this.

Just finished my circuit and didn't like the news.

CVS #1 out
CVS #2 Very low
CVS #3 out

Hopefully we get a Christmas miracle.

Too bad we don't have Staples around here. People do the 5x bonus there with $200 gift cards I believe. I'm going to have to start destroying my Mississippi hometown's CVS every time I'm there. I'm sure the residents don't have a clue about these sort of things

So is the only benefit if you have the walmart checking account?

Well, Bluebird is made by Amex. Walmart comes into play if you want to do a "swipe load" from a prepaid card. If you buy VRs you don't have to go to a Walmart, those can be loaded onto Bluebird online.

Bluebird is the main way people do this right now, but there are others. A Bluebird account is free so there is no reason not to get one IMO.

Doesn't NOLA have an Office Max?

Yeah. I hit 3 or 4 before I finally found them in BR. You might be right. The key might be to find the more rural CVS.

You're right, one out in Harahan. Not sure if they'll let me do what I want to do, but doesn't hurt to take a look at it or search online.

So if I did this with my delta Amex to the tune of 60k... They would catch this pretty quick right?

"This" being manufacturing spend?

The answer is "it depends"

Amex does financial reviews so if you have an income along with an SO that could theoretically support that level of spending then you are fine from what I can tell.

They really are looking for people making 40k a year with 200k in spending or purchases that don't match previous activity. I started slow and spread the spend across my cards and my SO's.

Hope that was your question.

ETA: I also have legitimate expenses that I'm covering as well such as rent and student loans. Since I could afford these straight up, my level of spend doesn't alert them as being a risk of default. They are more worried about holding the bag, not too much about what you are doing, but that is still there as well.

From what I've read, Amex is the only card that you have to be careful with for manufactured spend. My wife and I use our Amex spg frequently and also put a considerable amount of MS on it.

60k/yr is substantial in MS. I wouldn't personally do that much on one account. I would spread that over a couple cards. I only hit 30k to get spg gold and move to another card.
