Unless I'm missing something, that's my take.

Youre missing a HUGE piece.

The prosecutors didnt know the case existed until Wed. The PD held it from them

except that the victim is claiming that Winston was the guy who raped her. but by all means, carry on pretending to be unbiased

from deadspin
quote:

Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times was the first reporter to contact the Tallahassee Police Department to inquire about case No. 12-32758. He was acting on a tip he got back on Nov. 6 from a trusted source, who told Baker that a woman had brought some sort of sexual abuse complaint to police last December, and that even though no arrest has been made, Baker would have good reason to look into it. No. 12-32758 is the file number the Tallahassee police assigned to the case, which had not yet been made public. Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has since been identified in numerous reports as a possible suspect.

Baker is a sports reporter for the Times, which covers FSU football but doesn't have anyone on the Seminoles beat full-time. He chips in on FSU coverage, and while he had no idea whether his source's info would check out, he did his job and looked into it.

"I cover sports," Baker told me over the phone today. "I wouldn't have pursued it if it was just Joe College Student from Florida State."

That isn't evidence.

Evidence is location, motivation, dna, etc.

So he did it just because she said he did? Without any evidence whatsoever? Is a scary time to be a man if this is true

The police haven't made any arrests. That's all we know.

I've seen a fair bit of crap so far in my practice, and I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it's seems unlikely to me that the Tallahassee Police Department, Jameis Winston, and the D.A.'s Office are in collusion to make sure this crime is swept under the rug.

FWIW, Winston has been in trouble a few times since he's been in Tally. He was found w/ an illegal gun in his dorm last season.

I'm not saying he raped this chick, but he's certainly not a saint.

And another thing, let's keep in mind that we are only hearing one side. The District Attorney's Office and the Tallahassee Police Department are not going to keep commenting on open investigations (especially since Winston's attorney alleges the D.A. made extrajudicial comments recently). And, Winston doesn't have to give his side of the story.

So rape is equivalent to grabbing a girls butt in a bar?

I think they both qualify as sexual assualt

Details have finally come to light in the incident that led Georgia to dismiss quarterback Zach Mettenberger. The freshman pleaded guilty to sexual battery

Florida State freshman quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Jameis Winston is part of an ongoing investigation into a sexual assault complaint

Fwiw, battery is actually worse than assault

Yeah I don't like how accusation=guilty to so many people.

Its why I wish the defendant's name was sealed as well as the plaintiff until the decision.

So the victims testimony is considered truth now without any factual/tangible evidence? Why isnt the other person involved (Winston aka victim 2) given the same courtesy?
