Looking for a solid knife that will last. Really trying to keep it around $100 or less. Maybe even $150 and I'll keep a lookout for a sale coming up. What are some solid brands that are known for lasting quality?

I'm shocked it took two responses to get to this.

I'm a fixed blade kind of guy. I don't care too much for folders.

If I did go with a fixed blade, I've heard good things about kabar. Any specific model?

Eta- I also like the price point on these. I'm seeing $60-90

Leatherman. I'd get a utility knife if I was picking just one.

I already have 3 utility knifes around the house. None are leather man, but if one breaks, I have 2 more.

The full sized Kabar is only $65 on amazon. I like that

For a true shtf knife, I would prefer a fixed blade for durability...mine is the SOG Seal Team Elite...if you want something a little smaller, check out the Seal Pup...

That SOG looks similar to the Kabar. How do you like it?

Folder
Fixed

I have both, love knives, and they are the cream of my crop for the price. I am 100% happy with both

If you wanna spend more money, these are awesome knives Folder and Fixed. Zero Tolerance has some of the most solid knives I have ever owned. Got stolen, but were awesome while I had them. FWIW, they are thick

I went with the Kabar full size straight edge. $64 shipped with Amazon prime. Spent about $50 less than I had planned which is nice

If you like Zero Tolerance but don't want to spend full price you can go to KershawGuy.com. He buys straight from the factory during their yearly factory sale and gets their seconds/blems which just have cosmetic defects like tiny scratches and such that they wont sell retail.
