Both Jacksonville and Tampa have something to say about that

The guy with the poor work ethic and entitled attitude? Yeah, he'll fit right in with them. The Falcons need a lot more than just a defensive end to fix their train wreck of a team.

I'm very happy. Makes me laugh after all the shite talking they did last year and the start of this year.

I am more concerned about Tampa getting a new coach and a legit franchise QB (Bridgewater/Boyd?)with their early pick. They have a solid core of offensive players and a scary young defense. With some leadership and a QB, they worry me.

I am a bit more worried about the Bucs then the Falcons. Falcons are loosing Gonzales which is a pretty big deal for them.

They won't get the number 1 pick, and where ever they fall outside of #1 they will select an o-lineman.

The only thing I'm worried about is them Firing Mike Smith. They need to win enough games to keep him around. I think he's a decent coach, but he craps all over himself every time SP is the coach across the field and I like that.

I don't care who they draft or where. They're severely overpaying Ryan and that will hinder them for years. They're losing White and Gonzalez so he should be even less effective next year.

I love bagging on smith, and he has his shortcomings, but he is the best they've ever had. I would love to see him go. The chances they hire a linehan, marinelli bust coach instead of a sean payton, mike mccarthy coach are pretty good.

Maybe Bobby Petrino is open to coming back that is just how I like my falcons football.

I love me some Mike Smith. I love him coaching the Falcons. There's some risk in them stumbling into the next Payton. It'll be hard for them to find a dumber coach....real hard.

This is becoming a trend in the NFL, teams that do really well one season, just totally tank in the following season. I guess you could say it's partly a matter of free agency, and that's what really has hurt the Baltimore Ravens this year. So far, the Ravens have had a mediocre season and haven't really impressed anybody. They lost several key starters, in addition to Ray Lewis retiring, and it's shown this year. Plus, they're not taking anybody by surprise, teams are preparing for the defending Super Bowl champs every week and it shows.

Also, injuries are another crucial element to consider. That's why I believe the Atlanta Falcons are struggling so much. Roddy White and Steven Jackson have been banged up this season and have either missed games or have been very ineffective. Julio Jones was put on IR earlier in the year, and obviously his presence has been missed. So right there, the Falcons' top three offensive weapons have been injured/ineffective and that's probably one of the main reasons they're 2-7.

The Houston Texans are another team that has fallen way off the map compared to their playoff year last season. Their long-time QB, Matt Schaub, has played so terribly this season that he's been benched, and Arian Foster has just been put on IR.

So the cycle of free agency, injuries, and good fortune is what determines a team's longevity as winners. That's why a Super Bowl win for a team is so sweet, a team has to overcome so many obstacles to get to the Big Dance and then win it all, and you can't take the next season for granted, because anything can happen. The Falcons were just a few yards away from a Super Bowl last year, and look where they are now. So much can change in just a few months.
