Both schools are comparable academically.
Pretty sure Bama is usually ranked higher than LSU just about every year when it comes to academics.

That goofy strength coach is actually a Jesuit grad.
He actually attended Curtis with me. Got kicked out half way through senior year and graduated from Brother Martin '97. He is also an LSU grad. Trained under Moffitt at both schools. Vic Viloria who serves in the same position at FSU is also a Curtis grad, '98.

The US News rankings should be taken with a grain of salt, particularly after the top tier of schools. It's also important to point out you should really only be focused on specific degree programs and your long term goals. If you want to be an engineer in the oil business, LSU is your place. LSU also has outstanding placement out of the Acctg/CIA program as well.

don't LSU grads make more money on average?
Posted on 11/11/13 at 9:50 am to TigerBait1127
Not always. Petro/ chemical engineers and mechanical engineers, as a whole, make more money in BR and the Houston area than anywhere else. I made $78K to start in Mobile with a degree from South Alabama. I was offered a job in BR, along with an engineer from Auburn and LSU and when we talked, we were all offered about the same, 87K each, to start. It more so depends on where you are as to where you went to school, at that point.

I enjoyed my trip to Tuscaloosa, just as I have enjoyed the previous 17 trips. As I have gotten older, I laugh at the college age kids yelling shite at me and then running off. I have a nice picture of two Bama boys kissing and shaking the pom poms that I could post if I knew how to do such a thing.
I agree the artificial music is way over the top. Hell, the Million Dollar Band marched on the field before the game and they could not be heard with the artificial music being played.
No worries though, God willing, I will be back in two years

I was there in the Spring for the baseball series. I concur with this.
LSU could also learn a thing or two from them regarding traffic management. The Saturday game of the series was the same day as their A-Day game, and I had ZERO problems getting around.

yea, you obviously can be successful coming from most major universities.
LSU has the advantage with the engineering jobs in the area and houston being closer. Doesn't mean it is a better education

Not reading through all 7 pages, but I was impressed. Terrific stadium, although for having close to 10,000 more people than TS, I don't think they match our stadium's decibel level when we're playing a quality opponent at night.
Agree on all the ramped up crap over the PA. Couldn't quite fathom what purpose their band plays. And they sounded like absolute shite pre-game.
The crazy coach on the video screen is over-hyped. He reminded me of Krazy George from the old Shoe Town commercials.
On the way out, had some drunk idiots. But had a fair number of "good games" and "drive home safely."
And the fact that their stadium is next to the bars is just sweet.
T-town is by far my favorite away game site.

I toured my old fraternity house, which was rebuilt and compelted last year (complete rebuild & cost $20 million) and I was shocked at what those young guys get to live in compared to when I was at Bama. Good for them, I can guarantee you we wouldn't have been allowed to have nice things back in my day.

He's an LSU grad. I honestly always assumed he learned it from Moffitt. I've been told many times by LSU fans that he will be your next S&C coach.

I love going to games in Baton Rogue as the atmosphere is so electric, but Tiger Stadium and LSU's campus physical plant is really a notch down from Alabama's campus and stadium these days.
The difference from the early 1990's when I graduated is really shocking. The whole campus has literally been rebuilt with a great unified aesthetic. Bryant-Denny stadium is probably the state of the art for college stadiums in 2013. The pumped in rap music and godawful "Dixieland Delight" during are pretty awful but the Ac-DC, Lynard Skynard, & Metalica work for me. I could completely get rid of the band as they do nothing but use up good seats anymore.
Also, did someone say YOGA PANTS!

Tiger Stadium was built in 1924, so its not shiny and new-looking like BDS, but that's part of it's charm. It's repeatedly been called a "cathedral of college football"; you don't hear anyone saying that about BDS, no matter how many national titles Bama has. There's only so much that can be done to renovate it since it's so old, but we're working on it.
As far as our campus not being as nice as Bama, well that's in the eye of the beholder I think. I wouldn't expect a Gump to say anything of ours is better or nicer that Bama's, because Gumps don't do that. To them, Bama is the absolute pinnacle of perfection in everything.
Congrats on the win; now GTFO.

No. No they don't. My son was a NMF and Alabama offered him a full ride. LSU offered him $2000 on top of TOPS. So it would have cost me several thousand more just to send him to his state flagship.
I think it is a statewide policy in Alabama, because my son was a National Merit Finalist and got full tuition, room & board, and a technology stipend at Auburn. Since LSU doesn't have an Aeronautical program, he never considered going there, so we didn't have an offer to compare, but the deal he has is enough for me to yell "War Eagle" every once in a while.

I believe what is IN the building actually matters- who cares how many buildings are built? I'm a college prof at a school with 14,000 students. We don't have fancy new buildings but we do a great job educating our students.

LSU's library is in need of some new glory holes.
I had sex on the 4th floor too.

Droliver,
I worked at LSU for over a decade.
Jindal has gutted LSU. A staggering number of faculty and staff have left in the past 4 years along with tremendous budget cuts. LSU barely has enough facility service staff to cut grass. Getting stuff fixed in the buildings takes weeks to months now.
Bama has a fantastic plan in place, I am really impressed with the campus and the long term goals.
