Nice piece on Lederman, who most of you know is the first American kid to train at La Masia.

I'll be livid if he's not called up for our games against Scotland and Osterreich.

If nothing else, Ben will be a well-rounded individual. English, Spanish, French and Hebrew. I struggle enough with English.

Given all that his family gave up, I'm wondering what other options they had. Would waiting 3 years and sending him on his own to Bradenton or a European academy have limited his potential that much?

Tactically, yes he would be very far behind. It's impossible to quantify exactly how much of his development would be hindered, but essentially he would be going from tactical instruction everyday at a young age, to not getting any tactical instruction until high school and even then it wouldn't be anywhere near the level of la masia. Obviously going over there doesn't make him any better of an athlete, so that part is moot. But the mental aspect of being a CM is really important, so I think if they really want to give their child the best chance to succeed then they made the right decision.

That's such a hard to decision to make. Couldn't imagine having to think about that

This Jewish American is going to light up the pitch in Qatar. Also, his brother is going to be a star on the PGA tour.
