Gone With the Wind starting now on TCM

They're doing a Vivien Leigh tribute today and tonight. I just finished watching A Streetcar Named Desire, and GWTW is coming on now.

I've liked ASND since I first read it in high school and the 1951 movie in black and gray makes it better. Never seen GWTW though.

Vivien Leigh might have the two greatest screen performances of all-time by an actress. Her performances in GWTW and A Streetcar Named Desire were just unbelievable. I don't think there's ever been an actress who has dominated and carried a movie as much as Vivien Leigh did in Gone With The Wind.

Agreed...
But Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast at Tiffany's is up there too.
And just below - Julie Andrews in Sound of Music - yes, I said it.
And then down the list - Kathy Bates in Misery - that whole movie is really just her.

That was my exact thought when I was fliping through the channels... I told myself I'll watch the first bit till they go to war... then it was I'll watch to see Atlanta burn... then etc etc and I watched the whole damn movie till after 1am
This was probably my 4th or 5th watch in my lifetime and Vivian Leigh's performance is just so captivating... going from shallow flirty girl; to manipulative pouty girl; to dark, conniving "I'm gonna get what I want" woman all within a 3 minute conversation.
