Just put together a highlight clip of my son who punts for Barbe High. He's hoping to be offered by a small D1 or D2. Having a pretty decent year so far...
19 punts
40.5 yards per punt average
Longest: 53 yards
5 Touchbacks
9 Caught or downed inside opponent's 20
LINK
Any ideas on how he can be noticed?

Barbes probably not the best place to get noticed as a punter 19 punts through almost a full season? Damn

Contact all the schools athletic departments.
Good luck to your son.

He is doing better than LSU's punter.

He should definitely get some looks from smaller schools.

LSU could use him at Defensive End with Trindon.

are you Australian by any chance?

Send his film to schools that you think would be interested.

29 ACT with 3.8 GPA

Unfortunately most schools won't give a scholly to a freshman kicker/punter typically. People were infuriated when we gave one to B Wing. However many punters have earned schollys by walking on and booming the ball when they get there.

And with that GPA and test score, he can go anywhere he wants really.

But send his film out to schools and get on the phone with coaches

It's hard for punters to get schollarships. Best advice I've seen on here is to hit the camp circuit hard and send film to everyone.
Can he qualify for an academic schollarship and walk-on?
Good Luck to your son.

This kid is a TREMENDOUS athlete for a punter, not to mention a great kid and student!

If anybody knows the value of a punter, it's LSU. They don't beat Bama in T town in 2011 without wing.

Get in touch with the coaches at south alabama. This is there first year of Full d-1 Fbs and bowl eligibility. Believe they are losing punter after this year.
As others have said, he may have to walk on earn a job and then get a scholarship
If I'm not mistaken on rules, he can't have any "institutional aid". IE school x can't give him an academic scholarship, or he counts against the 85.

I second the comment on getting in touch with South Alabama. They are a new program but already turning some heads this year. Their special teams is definitely not the strongest so there may be an opportunity there for him!

LSU, like most big time programs, ask their kickers/punters to walk on in most instances, then allow them to earn a scholarship. Since he has such good grades and TOPS, tell him to contact Sam Nader with the Football Ops crew if he wants in at LSU. Other than that, send his film out to any and everyone! With his grades places like Rice, SMU, Wake Forest, would all be great options academically, if he can get a scholarship and with his grades its a possibility.
