It was a close battle in training camp between these two DB's back in August....in fairness Abdul Quddus has been injured early in the season; maybe they kept him bec he is younger than Leonhard?? However as far as production there is NO COMPARISON...

In the limited time playing Nickle Back/Dime Back Jim Leonhard already has 3 INT's(a Six way tie for 8th Place in the NFL)... + 3 pass break-up's & 27 tackles for the Bills...still think he could have Landed on the squad ahead of Quddus who only has 6 tackles so far...playing behind Jenkins, Vaccaro & Harper.

Just an observation having the best 53 man roster...the Saints D has been a pleasant surprise...Curtis Lofton & Cameron Jordan are playing at a Pro Bowl level!

GO SAINTS!

I think it was an age thing. Sometimes longevity plays a factor.

I'm surprised he didn't make the team.

There is a reason that he has been with 4 teams in 3 years. Something doesn't add up.

Well, according to PFF, Leonhard's one of the worst safeties out there this season.

His score against the run is terrible.

Take that for what it's worth.

No matter who we kept they would have been the 5th safety and played mostly special teams with the rare end of game during blow out appearance.

The only reason we were running 4 safety sets is because we really liked our first 4 safeties. Now that Harper has been out I don't think we've run one 4 safety set. And neither Leonhard nor IAQ have the same skill set as Harper.

Bush and Vaccaro are clearly our safeties of the future giving us 4 "starting" caliber safeties. So in the end it only made sense to go with youth for the 5th safety spot.

As for the stat comparisons, they don't mean squat because Leonhard has been getting way more snaps than IAQ.

I think that you are forgetting about Junior.

I'd say Jordan and Galette are.

Hawthorne, Lewis, and Vaccaro are looking good, as well.

He would be a good guy to have out there in the 4th quarter of those Arizona/Buffalo-type games. That's about it.

IAQ had some starts before, and has shown ball skills. He's young and he's cheap. That's why he's here.

comparing stats of #4 safety vs. a starter is a terrible way to analyze players. I'm not up to criticizing who they kept or cut as a backup backup player. Shows me more how little depth Buffalo had if a guy that couldn't cut it at #4 here can start there. Remember Ryan has had Leonhard before and is very familiar with him.
