If you hunt ducks in a cypress swamp, what are they eating?

Lately I've been seeing a lot of pictures and video of people hunting ducks in what looks to be flooded cypress swamp. What are the typical duck foods you find in an area like this? It always seemed like kind of a barren terrain to me for the birds so I was wondering why they would be there. TIA.

The ones I hunt are resting. They came from rice fields.

A lot of times you'll find duckweed. Cypress Break + duckweed = gray duck

Most are coming to rest and hide away

A buddy has a place with some beautiful cypress brakes in it and for the life of me I don't know why they don't hold ducks. I would figure for sure they would atleast go int here for rest. However this was the first year we were able to get them all the way drained so hopefully the vegetation that was able to take root will bring them in.

Do you hunt later in the morning generally? Or do they come in early as well?
