Quick question for the experts: do I need a license to tow a log splitter in Louisiana like you need for a boat or trailer?

TIL.

I've towed one before with nothing. Stayed on the back roads. Not sure if it was illegal though. I agree that we need Downshift to weigh in.

Yes, although the 18' car trailer that I just sold didn't ever have a tag in the 8 years I owned it and I never got looked at twice

You should do the exact opposite of what I would do

Ive never seen a splitter with any license or lights on it. Youre probably supposed to have it licensed, but i highly doubt you get in trouble for it unless it comes apart on the road or something.

So it looks like the majority opinion is although the State probably wants my money, it's pretty unlikely that the PoPo will bother with me unless I cause a pile up or something.

Thanks folks.

i wouldnt worry about it. i have pulled mine all over the place and never had anyone bat an eye about it. several people have borrowed to bring to their camps and they havent had any issues either.
