I've always used one. Even on smaller boats with like a 25 on it.

Flip down bracket is NOT for trailering.
Its for servicing........

Matter fact trailering the boat with the motor resting on the bracket will do more harm to the transom because of the leverage of the lower unit being more horizontal.

Not on either of my boats; 17' Bass Tracker with a 75, 12' Bateau with a 9.9.

blowing my mind.....mine sits really high...doesn't seem to move much at all when trailering. i never see anyone trailering a boat down around dauphin island and gulf shores with a transom saver. i guess i'll add it to the list of shite i gotta buy.
optimax 150 for reference

This, people not from NE LA.

I just got one of those slip on units similar to that one Pool posted.
It also came with collars to stabilize the steering arms...not bad for 30 bones and much better than the trailer to lower unit arm for my boat.
It is on a Yamaha 150.
