The chick that played Reyes, the Peruvian commandante, was one of the Martas on Arrested Development.

Best way to describe this show is "live action cartoon."

If everything affiliated with the avengers can be described as live action cartoon, I'll be happy.

There is no way that the blow up raft would have held when the plane had a hole in it.

For real. I accept it though. Because the hole was created by a flying robot named after one of the seven dwarfs by triggering a death ray they found in an Aztec temple but built by villains from WWII. So of course a life raft would patch the hole.

Yea I'm ok with that. I'm glad Skye isn't a cartoon chick

Perfectly fine with that.

The worst thing ever done to comic books was Nolan's Batman. Because everything has to make sense and be realistic. Even if your protagonist is a multi-millionaire that dresses up as a bat at night and fights crime.

I went into this show knowing it would be unrealistic and not be that good

But I can appreciate it for the entertainment value and laughter

People watching a show like this expect some level of unreality to set in. You can't have a Hulk, Captain America or XMen without it. At the same time though they expect certain things to stay the same. There is a balance between the fanciful and what can really happen that must be reached, otherwise the story falls to shite as the writer(s) throw out just anything to make the story progress.

Unless someone is 10, they understand that an inflatable raft has absolutely no way of plugging up a hole in a flying plane. Not in this reality or any other.

To be more specific though, it was a shitty resolution created by shitty writing put in place in order to force a place for Skye's character (who had been purposely portrayed as fricking worthless during most of the episode) on the team.

As for the Colson/Tahiti "mystery"...

*****SPOILER ALERT*****

-He's an LMD (Life Model Decoy). They somehow saved his consciousness and put it into an android-esque form (which is how he was able to miss being hit by that flying door in the pilot episode). He doesn't know he's dead.

When did they explain this?

How do you know this?

I figured, if anything, the Colson killed by Loki was an LMD.

Is it really a spoiler if it's conjecture?

Another theory is that he returned via magic. I need to find where I read it but it came off as a respectable option.

eta:

Here's the article

quote:

Coulson believes he was in Tahiti, recuperating. He says it’s a magical place.

Somewhere around 8.35, Coulson repeated this very idea in a conversation with Skye the hacker. Same words. It’s a magical place.

And then just five minutes later we should note Fitz’s line in the scene with the holographic reconstruction:

It’s like magic. But it’s science.

I think Agent Coulson was resurrected through magic. I think the reveal of this might be a little ways away, timed to coincide with the introduction of supernatural happenings to the rules of this world. At the latest that’s going to be in May 2015 when Scarlet Witch shows up in Age of Ultron.

LMD, magic, gods, etc... All of this is believable in the universe they created. I can deal with that.

That fricking Indiana Jones parachute they used to plug up the hole in the airplane is not.

I thought episode 2 was better than the pilot.

has potential but needs a little work.

that weapon the Bond guy used against the rebels was almost exact same one Simon used to save River in Serenity

The show is still finding its bearings, but it is awesome nonetheless.

They aren't trying to be the next Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones folks.

As posted, the idea of Coulson being a LMD is favored right now. Been a Marvel staple since the 60s.

This show does suck however. I was hoping it was more Alias meets Marvel than what I've seen so far.

S.H.I.E.L.D is first and foremost a spy agency.
