Penn State to get back scholarships

"This amount will continue to increase until they reach the full allocation of 25 initial in 2015-16 and 85 total football scholarships in 2016-17."

Are all the people under that whole regime gone?
Always Seemed a little pointless to me to punish football players and coaches that had nothing to do with all that that went down
Unless Penn State kept some of the key figures from that time period around, then id understand

At that time, I was on the fence for bowl ban (However, I had no problem with the $60M fine). Didn't really care for the scholarship reductions.

Good god, I'd be interested to see if people on this board thought the NCAA or the LHSAA is the bigger joke at the moment.
What was done at PSU was a monstrosity on every level of administration. They are damn lucky they got off as light as they did, and now the NCAA is trying to sweep even more under the rug because the fire has died down immensely? I really dislike these clowns.

What does this have to do with ANYTHING? USC lost titles/schollies because of Reggie Bush' taking money long after he left USC.
By your logic, if anything messed up happens at your university, the school should not be held accountable as long as the guilty parties are no longer employed. Why don't we allow every school to just fire their coach and anyone related to the incident to avoid punishment from the NCAA?

It just never really made sense to me. Its a good PR move for the NCAA, sure, but the football penalties never really made sense to me
Fine the ever living shite out of the athletic department, make their lives a living hell, make sure every guy that lead the program is fired, do all that and more, but giving a direct punishment to the current and new players and brand new coaches to try to make sure they are not good at football anymore, just makes no actual sense to me

Good move. It was horrific but punishing these new coaches and teenagers isn't helping anything.

I don't believe so, I think one is on paid leave and the other was transferred to another department. They haven't gone to trial yet.

As far as the players who were at PSU when all this was found out, the NCAA allowed them to transfer without sitting out a year. Nobody is being unjustly punished.

That at least had something to do with athletics. While what Sandusky did was monstrous, no competitive advantage was gained and the only connection the crime had to the athletic program was that some of the incidents went down inside the facility.
If a coach went on a murder spree inside the athletic building of some random college, after his fellow coaches missed obvious signs that he was psychotic, should the football program go on probation because of it?

Curley (the old AD) was forced out, he was put on leave, but not retained after june 2013.
