tks for posting Hoodoo, expecting these every week now

I'm not so much into football stats as a whole. I count the PFF metrics highly tho cuz of how much they align with what the eyeball test each week sez.

David Hawthorne's numbers stand out to me, might Vilma actually be an upgrade when he comes back?

Lelito isn't going to pressure the slumping/hurting Jahri with these kind of performances.

This is his first week of bad numbers this season, I believe.
I actually thought he was playing well up until yesterday.

Edit: Yeah, I checked.
His strength is obviously against the run.
He didn't seem to get targeted for coverage much until yesterday.

Can we all agree that the Offensive Tackles are not the problem, really?

The pressure is (largely) coming from the hole between Evans/Lelito and DLP.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
The OL lives and dies with Evans.

The play of dlP seems to be distinctly down IMO. He's in a contract year going to UFA, so ya think he can't be slacking. He was quite a rabbit out of the hat story to start off with (5 previous teams). Maybe his play has gone down commensurately with the injury to Evans?

Kinda weird in how there was so much fear of the unknown at LT. At RT Streif has gotten his share of criticism too. Now into a 3-0 start the tackles are solid and we're dealing with middle pressure. Seeing that reinforces the Saints approach of building the middle strong for Brees.

that middle pressure is causing more turnovers than outside pressure would imo.

I think they are a good measuring stick but I don't rely on them by themselves.

Just for instance this week the eyeball test said Jordan did much better than that at rushing the passer(2 sacks, 3 hits, several more hurries).

And I didn't see Galette doing that bad in the run.

What I do agree with was Hawthorne in pass coverage but not wholly his fault. He played a lot of middle zone and they were hitting quick crossers before he could really get there.

Yeah but the good news is Grubbs is coming on and so might DlP. They aren't good yet but even with Lelito struggling the others held up a bit better than him.

Get Evans healthy and I think the line will look solid again.

John didn't even play a coverage snap. That is WTF worthy unless he had a batted pass.

Another reason you can't just go by these numbers. They help but aren't the end of of the story.

Giving him a whole 0.5 a point for one batted ball seems high. I know it's all based on a percentage of plays vs. pass or run or rush, etc. but that's where things can get skewed.

If anything I think it should have went towards his pass rush stats instead. Then it could be weighted properly.

.5 isn't exactly a lot.
It's well under a standard deviation.

With these kind of statistics, there's always a measure of error.
In reality, .2 and .5 are too close to call (I think).

But anyway, I see what you're saying.
