"No reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons"

One I wouldn't support in an election.

But I will guess Reagan because he is the most quoted politician by progressives and Democrats on here.

Hitler? Just throwing it out there. I know he was against private citizens with firearms.

There is a world of difference in "should be" and "not allowed". Citizens shouldn't have to carry one, but in certain situations and areas of the country they feel the need to. It is a good thing we have that freedom.

Why is that surprising? Reagan supported gun control and was a total piece of shite on many other issues as well.

Don't try to defend it. Own it. If this was Reagan, his stance on guns was crap.

I think these open carry and concealed carry people are jackasses, but I do think it's their right.

I didn't know it was Reagan and don't care what he said. I ammended my post to reply to the statement and not the person who said it. If Reagan meant it as he doesn't aggree with carry rights then yes, he was wrong.

quote:

It was Governor Ronald Reagan of California who signed the Mulford Act in 1967, "prohibiting the carrying of firearms on one's person or in a vehicle, in any public place or on any public street." The law was aimed at stopping the Black Panthers, but affected all gun owners.

Splitting hairs is cool.

Let's just focus on the quote.

Reagan says it, it's ok/care to disagree. He is still the patron-saint of modern conservatism.

What if Obama said it? Impeachment would go into serious talk

I love when people post these kinds of quotes as some kind of gotcha, yet they're never honest enough to post the entire context of said quote.

Yeah....that statement would be the final straw.

Do you ever tire of whining?
