To take us over the "hump"

I think this team is looking like a 7-8 seed first round exit right now

What changes do you think we can make between now and the trade deadline to make us a legitimate playoff contender in the west?

Trade for Asik. I really don't believe that Houston is just going to keep him there behind Howard

Draft or sign a good SF in the offseason

ETA: Just realized that you were talking about for this season. Obviously Asik would get us closer and a good SF could put us over the hump for next season

Well at least we'll know what Monty brings after this year.

I agree with the 7-8 seed. One full season with this talent and we shall be competing for a home court opener in the playoffs.

The biggest problem with this team is youth and lack of playing together. Davis is our alpha dog and he is only in year 2. It is Jrue and Tyreke's first year with the club. Ryno and EG haven't played a full season together. 7-8 seed is right where we should be with this group and then we assess what we need after the season.

1) Center

2) Add another scorer (preferably at the 3)

IMO, it depends on the development of Davis. If the plan is to keep him at PF, while occasionally playing him at the 5, then we need to get a good, defensive C. One that could hit an open 3 would be ideal.

AFA needs to be replaced. He is not a piece of a championship team, unless he's the 12th guy. A slasher at SF would compliment EG and ADs game best IMO.

Third, we need a backup PG. This is assuming AR hasn't vastly improved. We need a Jarret Jack or The General back.

Can that be done with a mid round pick (which is likely where we'll be in The near future) and FA? Possibly, but highly doubtful without moving other key pieces. Someone will have to go between Gordon, Ryno, and Tyreke.

Nothing that can be done without a video game controller.

And that's perfectly fine. Get a look at what they actually have and then make moves off that data.

Roberts isn't a decent enough backup PG?

Gordon for a legit 3 has to happen. It just makes too much sense. And not a stud or anything, but a legit 3 pt and defend SF with length. Get rid of a shite contract, a shite player, and a shite personality and replace him with a player we need desperately. That's my two cents.

We can roll with what we have at the 1, 4, and 5, and now with Reek and Rivers at the 2, Gordon is totally replaceable. It just makes sense, and it's the move we need to make to take it to the next level, imo

IMO Rivers has more potential as a backup PG or combo guard

A center that can put up 12-15 and 10 every night. A big body that can hold his own against anybody.

I don't think we want much of a scorer at the 3.. I doubt you'll ever see them bring one in, unless the roster changes and we lose offense elsewhere.

You can't have scorers at every position. Our offense is going to be our guards, Davis, and Anderson hopefully (if he is retained/kept around)

We absolutely need a defensive 3! Somebody that you can put on the other teams best wing, a guy that we can stick on the Lebrons and Durants, in this league. A young Ron Artest or Bruce Bowen, would be the best acquisition for this franchise, right now.
