So N.O. is getting an upscaled bowling alley with hopes toward good food...

and drinks. To be called Fulton Alley and should be open near Harrah's by late fall.

I'm thinking they will do well with this concept as long as the rent isn't astronomical. The convention folks and private party people seem to keep Rock-n-bowl pretty damn busy.

Agreed this will be a big success. If Rock-N-Bowl does as well as it does imagine what a shiny, new space that isn't way out in Carrollton and isn't kind of a dump will do.

Upscale and bowling, why does this combination make me go HEH?

Not sure how it will translate to the Nola crowd .. but people in NYC, Chicago and L.A. go nuts for those kind of places.

And even if locals don't flock to it they're opening in a prime location for tourists and conventioners.

With so many people living downtown these days, short drive from Uptown (college crowd), it will do great.

I was wondering what that was. Saw the signs. Interesting.

They should throw a day care center in there so the degenerates can drop their kids off and blow the College Fund.

I'm guessing there will be some sort of validation deal with the Harrah's garages? That's the only way it will work IMO.

No people like my older family members. Generations of people born and raised in NOLA.

I've been there twice in the last few months for birthday parties. Threw a really nice one for my mother. She loved it. Crappy food, below average bands, but good times were had.

Serious question: is this the type of place that could hold pro bowling tournaments?

It just dawned on me that I have no idea where they hold those things

I doubt it. I think this is a great thing but I'm afraid it's gonna be like Barcadia.

Kennabrah was a one time holder of pro tourneys. The Don Carter alley was one of the nicer in the south. It has since become a trash heap.

That is where the Obrah learned to bowl with the best. Good times there.

I was at the Gleason Gras in the VIP, and this was one of the auction items. A bowling party for 20 people + 4 or 5 Saints that will be present.

they said Fulton Alley and we all looked at each other like WTF? I just figured it was open already, but i had never heard of it.

Kind of a dump??? Have you been to the new Rock N Bowl? It's not even close to a dump. The space is gorgeous.

And it's definitely not the Shamrock crowd, especially if you hit it for zydeco and swing nights.
