Buell Spinner ftw.

My grandparents did this and took me a few times when I was little. I all but forgot about it...

I've been known to throw out two poles at once a time or 2

What exactly is it? Fishing with a cane pole and stump knocking?

Does that mean keeping and eating everything you catch?

we made or own baits with a deer tail and a shower cap

theres nothin like cruisin along with no bites and all of a sudden a biggun hits it.
sounds like you threw a 5gal bucket of concrete at the end of the pole.

its the best method for catching a wallhanger IMO

I've posted this before here, but my dad's friend took this picture of me doing it with my pop when I was 7 yrs old. 18 years later he painted it in oil, framed it, and gave it to me as a wedding present.

But we called it something else besides "jigger fishing."

We used a limber but stout fiber glass type pole with some heavy duty line. It's all pole when they are on, you only have a couple feet of fixed line.

use 10-12' cane pole wrap the end with 100lb line,
leave about 8-12" off end and tie bait.

then just tap the end of the pole on the water while trolling and hold on. sounds like someone threw a cinder block at the end of your pole

We used cane poles or hickory limbs, whatever we had. 2-3' of heavy line and a beetle spin or roadrunner. Never knew what you'd catch.

Yeah, it is 100% up close and personal top water and what you said about big fish is true too.
