Tpyically, Batman quickly figures out that Superman is Clark Kent, I mean no shite right? Those glasses are working Kent! Bats then observes Superman from a distance, devises a way to incapacitate him. Potentially holds him for interrogation / intimidation with kryptonite, or by depriving him of sunlight for an extended period of time.

They have contrasting styles, but learn to trust each other in the end.

Well let's start here, this is incorrect.. Batman always keeps kryptonite in his belt. In a fight between Batman and Superman... Batman pretty much wins every time - FWIW, there is even a series on the Justice League where you find out that Batman has a "contingency" for every single member of the justice league to "take them out"

When Superman ask him why, Batman basically responds with a "you being a bad guy is one of the scariest scenarios I think any of us could think of"

in a sense.. once again, Batman couldn't ever lose to Supes, Batman will always have the Kryptonite on him.

Nope, they are good friends - Batman, though dark - still cherishes human life and refuses to kill, just like supes (in fact I believe Supes has kill more people in the comic books than batman), just look how he keeps the joker alive, even after the joker paralyzes a teenage girl and kills his teenage sidekick!!!

P.S: They become extremely good friends because of the Justice league as well, working together and all that jazz.

the dark knight returns as exhibit A, but that just is too "comicy" for a movie.

as much as i love batman and supes is my #2...I will not watch this movie...

Well "The Dark Knight Returns" happens in a different universe all together FWIW.. and is based in the future (Bruce Wayne is 55 years of age) and Superman works for the US government.

Needless to say, Superman is a government lacky and something bad happens... and Superman and Batman end up on the opposite sides of the conflict from each other.

Batman teams up with Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) and they fight off Superman.

Slight Spoilers below:

There is a nuclear weapon dropped on the US, which causes a nuclear winter, Batman becomes the "law" in Gotham and creates the "safest" city in the US which is a disgrace to the US Government.. so they send in their lackey (Superman) to deal with Batman.

The largest source of the feud is that Batman sees Superman as a threat to humanity. In addition, Superman doesn't like Batman's win at all cost anti-boy scout mentality.

Superman can easily defeat Batman if he really wanted to. Just fly out to space and nuke Batman with heat vision. In no way could Batman realistically sneak up on Superman bc of Supes SUPER senses.

He could always do this, he never does though, probably because at the end of the day Superman has an ego as well, and wouldn't want to "snipe" batman down

One of the reasons Superman is one of my least liked characters in comic books..... his freakin' ego, but why wouldn't have have an ego, he's a demi-god
