This looks pretty good.
The other cd is to mainstream for my taste or just alot of gay artists.

Agreed. I've heard Turnpike's version of "If You're Gonna Play in Texas" and it's great. I can't wait to hear what Boland can do with "Mountain Music".

OCMS cover of DD should be pretty good as well

the sample of Old Flame is great

Boland has a great solo version of DD

I had read about Alabama & Friends on the band's website, but had no idea about High Cotton. I may have to pick both of them up. The Old Flame sample was really well done. While most of the stuff on & Friends is by the pop country set, I am interested to see how the boys sound with Shedd back behind the board, and I think Jamey Johnson and Trisha Yearwood will do good jobs on their respective tracks.

I think the first album has way too many new pop style artists to be any good. From the sample track for the second album it sounds like they are trying too hard to give "Old Flame" a folksy, hipster sound.
It's fricking Alabama country music from the 80's and 90's, you can't get any better than that. All of these "tributes" will pale in comparison to the real thing and are probably only being done by the artists to gain street cred ("Hey I'm country, I sang Dixieland Delight")
I know its just my opinion, but I would rather hear the originals than these trumped up versions.
Tennessee River - Jason Aldean
Old Flame - Rascal Flatts
I'm I A Hurry (And Don't Know Why) - Florida Georgia Line
These dudes couldn't hold Randy Owen's jock.

High Cotton will be badass.

Never liked Alabama, so I don't care. My favorite version of 'Old Flame' is Joe Sun's.

Luke Bryan.....yuck. Somehow he will work in a reference to a drip of honey on the money maker.
As a fan of his, i would expect Jamey Johnson to do a good job on "My Home's In Alabama."
I used to be a huge Alabama fan in the day, until they came through BR in 1986 on a greatest hits tour (She and I). Bastards played for about an hour and then bolted. Most of their top songs were played as medleys. Done with them after that......

Alabama begat the pop-country abortion that is modern country music

wish it was on spotify, but you can hear the whole album here LINK
Boland, Isbell, and TT provide the best songs IMO.
