gasp?

If he were to be cut, do you think we would take him back for a cheap deal? even though we have a good slew of young up and coming receivers?

The article says he's a mess physically, but if he's fairly healthy, I think he'd have a better shot at making the team than Breaston given that he has experience with Brees.

We have a lot of receivers right now.

Can he play OLB?

His salary is fully guaranteed this year so i doubt they cut him

Thats the only thing keeping him on the roster right now though

yeah thats the only thing I believe too. If not he'd obviously be cut. too bad he isn't an acting cancer on that team lol if he got cut, we could get him back for probably minimal.

Robert Meachem has always sucked

Good for him for getting paid, but my god what were the Chargers thinking

1) They won't cut him.

2) No reason to bring him back when the Saints already have three or four promising young players fighting for the reserve wideout spots.

I really hope he gets cut, but realize it probably won't happen. He can still be an asset to this team, especially with Morgan out this year. Meach put up fairly good numbers in 2011 and his size/speed must be respected.

You don't grow old gracefully in sports, particularly a sport like football. I wouldn't be surprised if he was "worn down".

And it can be very sudden.

Yea if he were cut and came back here, I think he'd be a completely different player than the one we had before he left

He had top end speed, but it took him a while to get going. He wasn't very good at breaking tackles for how big he was.

Body "broken down?" Really? Dude hardly ever saw the field. It took him 3 years to even give the saints decent production from the 4th receiver spot. He was clutch for us in key moments, but he can stay a part of saints history.

We'd be stupid not to sign him.

I don't think we would. There are better alternatives on the roster.

Sounds nice, but it's time to inject some young talent into the WR corps. I'm pretty stoked about Toon and Stills potential in this offense.

ETA: I know it's a few years early, but man how awesome would it be if Colston and/or Moore were ready to move and we had a chance at Marquise Lee next year? A young corp of Lee, Toon, and Stills would be so boss.

“I did suck,” Meachem admitted on Saturday, via U-T San Diego. Given his propensity to use that word when describing his performance in 2012, maybe he should put an “S” on his chest, Bizarro Superman style.

At least he owns his underachieving...
