Big Lake Speck Report

Had the pleasure of fishing with a couple of guides Friday/Saturday.....the group of us ended up with about 150 specks...Sabine Lake is on fire right now and the beach (provided the water is clear)...the lake/channel provided terrible results during the day; however, we ended up with a couple of limits fishing the lights at night...Cheers

Good to hear. Catch any big ones?

We wanted to go today but the weather scarred us off

I'll have one of my fiends send me some pics to add/link. As far as size, the majority weren't that big, mainly 12-16 inches...Around 20-30 were 1-2 lbs apiece and our largest was around 5 lbs...the water clarity was the best at Sabine (lots of green water) and the baitfish were STACKED. I've never seen so many shrimp. They looked like ants they were so thick in the lake

Big Lake = Calcasieu Lake?

simple break down....Sabine good right now....Big Lake bad.

Sorry for the confusion...We actually launched at Big Lake and then decided to make the hour and a half long trip to Sabine and fish BECAUSE the lake is so slow right now...lol... In short, like someone said "Sabine/Beach good...lake not so good"

Buddy caught mostly Gaftops on Shrimp and Mullet in the lake and all the way to the jetties. Said he's never seen it that bad.
Did you take the intracoastal to Sabine or did you run out in the gulf?

the good specs are offshore right now, get out really early and hit the close platforms.
