Kegerator guru's, what product do you recommend for cleaning of the lines? I am coming into possession of a kegerator and first order of business will be flush and clean the line. I see several different cleaning systems online. Which is recommended?

i always just clean my keg with oxyclean free and run it through the lines under pressure after.

Just replace the lines, tubing is cheap and just takes a couple minutes to replace.

Seems really unnecessary to do this each time.

This is what I do, followed by a Starsan mixture in the keg and through the lines.

He's probably not a homebrewer.
Would probably work as the product to use. Not sure how to circulate it through your system though.

Hand pump... I have one at home somewhere from our old tailgate kegerator.
I usually just fill a keg with star-san, flush the lines thoroughly and let them sit full of star-san until I put something new on tap.
Every now and then I'll take it all apart and clean every piece thoroughly and run a pipe cleaner through the lines.

Uh, new lines and start over anew and not worry about it for a while.

This really isn't a bad idea to start fresh.

Beer Cleaning Kit
I use a kit similar to this, leave some of the cleaner in the line until you tap the next keg to keep it from getting mold in the lines

Aren't you supposed to clean after each keg anyway? In all likelyhood I'd have the keg for a few weeks and then there could be a few weeks before I bother buying another one.

If it's different beers, clean after each keg. If its same beer you should at least clean once a month. If the keg box is sitting unused put line cleaner in the lines until you tap again. When you tap the new keg just run the beer until the cleaner is out.

It'd probably be different ones each time. The first one I plan on getting is a seasonal beer than can be hard to find in the US. I can probably only get one keg a year of it. The lines look pretty clean. I got this off a good friend of mine and he was good about keeping it clean. He just has no room since he's moved and I got a super good deal. He will still get use out of it too though.
And to get more CO2, any hardware store? I have a cylinder but will probably need to be topped off.

Probably not... call DeFalco's Homebrew store, they will either fill CO2 tanks or can point you in the right direction.

Homebrew stores or welding shops or party supply type stores that sell kegs.
Louisiana Fire Extinguisher is the cheapest that I know of.

I'm in the Houston area. I will have to call a couple of the homebrew stores. I'm sure Spec's or D&Q can point me in the correct direction.

Yeah man, I know... DeFalco's is the big one there.
And yeah I'm sure there are plenty of options... in Baton Rouge LA Fire Extinguisher is the go-to place.

Haha, sorry. I was assuming you were referencing a place in LA. I didn't bother to Google yet. Defalco's won't be too bad of a drive for me either. Thanks for the heads up!

No problem... I think you should start there... or look up one of the Houston homebrew clubs and shoot them an e-mail.
