I know he takes heat on here from a lot of you (I generally think he's pretty fair, even if he isn't always as informed about LSU specifically as we are), but he was pretty level headed today, which is refreshing given the hacks like Mandel, Doyle, and GG at home in BR.

Fowler was digging with leading questions trying to imply Miles copped out by turning this into a "democracy", but Herbie wasn't biting.

He said Miles has a long history of taking these things on a case by case basis and knew what he wanted to do, but wanted Hill to feel accountable to the players.

He also said LSU is always loaded at RB and said Blue and Hilliard are more than capable and they probably have "a couple of other freaks" that no one has ever heard of, so Miles didn't do this just because Hill was a stud.

He also said Miles isn't just giving him the starting spot back, and he'll have to earn his carries back from Blue and "especially" Hilliard. He also said Hill will have to work hard since he's missed so much time while the other backs were working hard all summer.

Glad to see Herbie keeping a level head with so many others trying to sensationalize this as usual. Hopefully that will trickle down and quiet some of the other idiots at the national level.

herbie catches a lot of shite on here, but he calls it like he sees it...and gives LSU a hell of a lot of love, for the most part...

I assume he will always have Miles back going forward given their history.

Yeah he actually said yesterday when the JFF stuff broke that he already thought LSU was ahead of A&M before any of this started up.

I do remember he gave Mett and Cam a lot of love at Media Days, and was the only one that named LSU as Bama's biggest obstacle while Fowler, Pollack, and Finebama said it was A&M.

So happy to never watch ESPN at all.

My life has much more peace.

Glad that Herbie is defending us, but I don't read Doyel or Mandel or Maisel either. I especially don't read GG.

I really don't care what the hacks think. If they ever say anything good about LSU, I am glad, but when they go on their rants like this, they do not have my attention.

Could care less.

Better than the shite on ESPN radio around 5. Jackasses saying how Les pretty much disrespected the head coach position by his actions with Hill and how Joe Alleva was no better. talking heads are losing their fricking mind.

If you've ever watched the replay of the Oregon game you'll see Herbie speaking very well of LSU. He's good people.

Like I said, I know he takes heat from a lot of people, not me. I love the guy for breaking the Miles to Michigan rumor which is probably the only reason Miles stayed

But regardless, it's good to see a guy on a highly visible stage like CFB Live that certainly helps set the narrative on the national level, which was really the point of the post.

Herbie gets blasted here but he usually is pretty good (except for 2007 Michigan gate).

His only flaw is that like the rest of the media he still has nicks genitals down his throat but on most other things he's pretty fair

I'll say this for Herbie...he was as big a reason for LSU jumping to their rightful spot at #2 at the end of championship weekend in 2007 as anyone. He laid out the case for why LSU should jump both UGA and VT and was right and the rest of the press followed.

See above...it's been known to happen. Plus, let's be honest. This could not have worked out better time wise. You've got A-Rod and his suspension and Johnny frick-up in College station about to be deemed ineligible. Hill being back on the team after punching some frat guy will not be newsworthy outside of this place in a day or so.

I've always liked Herbie since he took a pic with me when Gameday was on campus last year.

And I admit I lol'd when I saw he didn't wear pants when he was on stage
