Two years ago, LSU played Bama for NC. They were unquestionably the best 2 teams in college football. Last year, a good case could be made that if LSU picks up 1 more first down against Bama, they play for it all again. Also.. a good case could be made that if they don't LSU Matthieu, they play for it all. This year, LSU is barely being mentioned in pre-season while Bama is expected to win a 3rd NC. So why has LSU seemingly gone backward so much in 2 years? LSU lost a lot on defense... Bama lost 3 on the offensive line but very little is being written about that. I just thought it was interesting that based on media, 2 years after we were one of the best in the country, we are now 5th or 6th best.. based on media projections.

You think LSU is regressing because someone predicted them to lose games?

LSU is one of the strongest, deepest programs in the country. Preseason predictions don't mean a thing.

I think we win 10+ this year with a shot to go undefeated.

Our defense is just unproven. Our offense will be better. It's just one of those bridge years that every team has.

PERCEPTION!!!

No matter how much some of our fans defend Les Miles, the fact is, he just isn't seen in the same light as Nick Saban. The media feels that Bama recruits as well as anybody and that they have arguably the best HC in CFB. With that comes the perception that whatever holes or voids are left from the NFL draft, Saban and his coaching staff will easily fill them with their talented recruits.

I just read a thread on here where our fans were going back and forth about whether or not Miles calls offensive plays, and if so, how much influence does he have. etc. etc.

I don't think ANYONE outside the program knows the answers. We have had years where the defense was bad and years where the offense was. I think it happens. Our problem has been compounded with Bama having so much success and the fact that its all coming under the helms of our programs former coach. I would like to end with what I see as a huge problem as well. PERCEPTION! Miles does not seem to be percieved as a HC that can right the ship. The media, as well as some of the programs fan base, feels that the program is in a slow decline. Hopefully this trend or way of thought ends soon.

TheDoc is right. Go SEC. We are predicted to finish 6th IN OUR CONFERENCE, yet ranked 13 in the entire country. To be the best you have to play the best (at least LSU does this year). So, let's strap it on and get after it boys. Geaux Tigers !

Preseason rankings are a joke. They don't actually rank teams, they try to predict where they will end the season. You put this LSU team in the PAC-12 and all of a sudden they're a top 5 team.

Because we lost 3x including a shitty bowl appearance. Our players quit on the team. Lots if starters gone.

You hit the nail on the head. Miles ain't anywhere near perfect but aI don't see anyone else in college football with a team consistently at a high level other than Saban. Miles came into a lose lose situation here. no matter that coach, no one would have been able to replace Saban in the eyes of many.

Well here is a wake up call for ya. He ain't coming back so get over it.
