Report: Obama to tell lawmakers there was no coup in Egypt

quote:

The Obama administration will tell lawmakers on Thursday that Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi's ouster was not a military coup, The Associated Press reports.

quote:

The determination allows the United States to keep open a $1.5 billion-a-year aid spigot to the Arab world's most populous country. U.S. law prohibits direct aid to countries where democratically elected leaders are deposed by the military.

So what is it called when the military removes a democratically elected president?

If its not a coup can we get one here?

It's obviously bullshite, but it'd be an awfully sketchy time to cut off aid to Egypt. We need the army to behave, and keep Egypt from turning into another dumpster fire.

Maybe it was a golpe. A coup by any other name is still a coup.

Not sure if this is true, but I would LOVE to watch BO come out and say this. This could turn into the worst BO/Carney spin job of the presidency. I just want to see that smartass smirk on Carney's face when he gets frustrated at the fact that the press corps isn't dancing like thinks they should.

Clinton quibbled over the meaning of the word "is".

W quibbled over what WMD was.

And now Obama is quibbling over the meaning of the word "coup".

This is why someone like Ron Paul will never be President. Can you imagine him engaging in this game of semantics and spin?

Only a matter of time.

So what is Barry suggesting? That Morsi left on his own terms?

Like Zed or whoever said, we do need the military to play nice for Egypt to avoid becoming Iraq.

I saw Lindsay Graham on Greta last night outright admit that it was a coup but we weren't gonna call it that so we could overlook the law about supplying them arms.

Pretty much his exact words.

I also assume with this aid, the shipment of F-16s for them will no longer be delayed correct?

I just dont get it, why are we so involved over there? Let them do their own thing and we can save some $$

For real. I don't want a coup. Just storm the White House and put Obama's arse in jail, and remove him from power is all I want.
