‘Obamacare’ National Marketing Campaign To Cost Nearly $700 Million

LINK Was this $700m in the original cost estimate or is this in addition to the deficit neutral plan?

Texas has the highest percentage of uninsured people in the nation, three times more than Illinois. But only a fourth as much public money will be spent on getting people enrolled in Texas.
Interesting.

i'd imagine that has something to do with texas opting-out of the state run insurance exchange

Texas has a bunch of illegals who don't have insurance.
Simply shocking! :sarcasm:

It absolutely does.....not mad....just thought the numbers were interesting.

Again was the 700million part of the original deal or is this going to be a new expense?

You know, it makes it really hard to feel sorry for the uninsured when they don't even make an effort to learn about something that will supposedly "help" them.

Having to literally spoon feed them info really says a lot about what kind of lives these people lead.

700 million down the drain because people are too lazy to find info out themselves. I read somewhere that porta potties will have Ocare advertisements on them. Trying to get the mexican gardeners on the exchanges, I guess.

Not opening the link, but does it say how much these people are going to get paid? I know its outrageous... I think I saw an estimate that it was almost $40hr

No. It is basically comparing how much money will be spent in different states to educate the public......did not get into what ad companies will be paid.

I saw one of the commercials and it made me sick to my stomach. Using sob stories is the libs mo. For something that probably would occur to 0.05 of the population if that much.

But we need to scare people and make them worry about having a child that will need 2 million dollars of heart surgery/treatment in their first year of life- and I'm being conservative and less dramatic than I should be with the 2 mil figure (lifetime caps vary from 1 million to 8 million, but 40% of plans dont have a cap).

At any rate, I thought libbies would rather abort those children?

No, the figure I threw out is what they are going to pay the people on the ground per hour to speak to and advise people on the options and how to sign up.

Not mentioned in this article. I do remember seeing something a while back, they were going to pay people $40 an hour to help them fill out the 60 page application.

What does it matter how much it costs? Does that even matter anymore? Need 700 million, just print it or add it onto the debt?

If Obamacare had bought every commercial spot in last years Super Bowl it would have cost $220 million and reached 108 million Americans. Not only that it is broadcast around the world, so Mexicans would know how to sign up before the reached El Paso. Now, if I could just get the gubment to give me a small percentage of the money I would have saved them.

I don't know about that figure, but I saw this article

quote:

The U.S. government is sending about $3.8 million to roughly 30 low-income community health clinics in Michigan to hire about 70 workers to help sign people up for insurance

that's averages to be around 55K per worker, & this is one of the states that isn't getting money

quote:

Just five states will spend less per capita than Michigan to get the word to uninsured residents about how to enroll for medical coverage under the federal health care law starting this fall.

Michigan's $5.7 million in outreach spending amounts to 58 cents per resident

But based on the national average 84%-90% of all American have insurance, so why spread the cost over all of Michigan's residents instead of just using the uninsured.
