Was it work ethic or injuries that held Loston back all these years?

Reading through the SEC blog on ESPN.com there is an article ranking the SEC safeties.

The top 5 are as follows:

1. Clinton-Dix - Bama
2. Loston - LSU
3. Ladler - Vandy
4. Whitley - MSU
5. Moore - Tenn

Aschoff writes about Loston
quote:

It's not like he ever lacked the talent, but his work ethic needed some improvement.

I was never really aware that this was the case. I always thought Loston had trouble staying healthy. Is this just another example of poor writing by Aschoff?

I think it was a combination of the light coming on mentally and finally getting a break from the nagging injuries.

He wasn't exactly behind any slouches either.

Perhaps he should stop tackling with his helmet?

slow learner

the only thing he may have been slow to learn was how to not be a headhunter all the time.

hell, he got starts as a freshman in 2010, it's just that he was behind better/ more experienced guys over his first couple yrs.

Dude doesn't know. He's just guessing. Main reason Loston needed time was injuries holding him back.

he started Vandy after Jai got banished. then Hatch took over for a while (I think Hatch had been hurt the first few games). then after the Arky debacle, Loston started the Cotton over Hatch.

This.

Also needs to stop going for the big hit and make solid tackles.

The #18 pick Eric Reid might've had something to do with it on top of injuries.

I remember watching his high school film right after he committed to LSU. One of the best defensive players film I've seen in my very limited experience. Can't wait to see what he will do this year

No ball skills. Should have been made an LB 3 years ago
