PGA is out due to hurricanes. And the US Open tries to shy away from brutally hot locations. But if I was able to work for the Foundation, I'd be bidding to the USGA as soon as that first green is cut.

It may be able to cash flow. I have my doubts but it may work. What I know for sure is that this plan does no serve the golfers in NOLA very well.

Even at the fees that golfer stated ($75 plus cart fees) you ae looking at close to $100 bucks. It would be cheaper to join a country club than pay those rates. You are now adding barriers into the game in this city that do not need to be there.... And that's a shame.

I think the USGA would play here if the course and logistics fit the bill. You're right about the PGA though. They would probably have a US am or pub-links here first to test it out

Yeah but what else does NO have close to the touristy part of town to play of that caliber? I have a feeling this was never meant to be for locals.

Can we go ahead and reserve all the tee times on the first day for the Golf Board?

Correct BUT that was what City Park was built for and has been for almost 100 years and this takes that away from them, IMHO .

I didn't see them on the City Park site a month ago.

I might be wrong but I don't see where the tourist demographic that comes to NOLA would bring in big numbers to the course. I know we have tons of conventions here, but I don't know how many bring in the type of clients that would hit the course.

What does bertholomew charge??? Do they have a range? I am just concerned about the public player and where they are going to be able to afford to play???

I am disappointed that they only are going to build one course out of the old east and west because if you are going to maintain a course of championship quality, you kinda have to price out the hacks / low to middle income golfers.

But I am excited about this......" We are excited about the potential and overall quality of this course and liken it to similar, high-profile municipal / park projects we’ve completed at Torrey Pines and Bethpage State Park."

Both of those courses have hosted US Opens, btw.

Looks great. Hope NOLA gets a major. I would be there in a heartbeat.

I'm gonna play it.

If there is a big tournament there, I'm wondering where people are gonna park.

I'm guessing a shuttle from Marconi.

They would definitely have to move the Zurich Classic from coinciding with JazzFest.

This is the city of new orleans' secret weapon on how to make this course profitable. Between the parking tickets and towing fees the course will turn a profit

I haven't lived in N.O. since high school, but having grown up in the neighborhood and first learning to play at City Park, this is awesome. I will fly home just to play this when it opens.

Hopefully the City will do like the San Diego munis and charge a deeply reduced rate to locals but then charge out of towners like me an exorbitant amount.

They'll park in the same places they do for Jazz fest.

The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for this project is the attendance they would get if the Zurich (god forbid a major) is held there. It would be maybe one of the only tour stops in the country where people would be able to walk or get public transport from every direction to get there.

To get the idea, just imagine the alcohol sales they do at Jazz Fest.

I dont know the New Orleans area extremely well so sorry if this is a stupid question. But is this going to be built in an area that doesn't flood as easily? It seems like that would be a major concern if I were building a course there. But if it was in a high ground area, the course wouldn't flood every time there was heavy rain.

I'm excited about this for my own selfish reasons. I'll like having the PGA stop near my house, and having a championship course like this in the city will be nice. There are plenty of very large conventions that come to town that will take up tee times throughout the year. My concern is the same as most of you...the price point for the public. I think it'll be a course local people play once a year as a treat to themselves. No one will make this their weekly course unless they offer a membership like TPC currently has...$2400 fee for the year with unlimited play for a cart fee.

as long as they dont do like TPC and charge a $10 walking fee

I can't get passed the fact that you get charged a membership fee, in order to get charged a fee again to play the course you have theoretically already paid to play
