as long as they dont do like TPC and charge a $10 walking fee

Honestly, at courses like this one and TPC, walking probably shouldn't be allowed, especially during weekends or busy times. That's probably the rationale behind the walking fee.

Both of those courses have hosted US Opens, btw.

That will never happen here.

Is there going to be a new practice facility associated with this rebuild? That's going to have to happen to get a PGA Tour event at this course.

I don't see any way the area can support both the TPC and the new City Park Championship course...golf is already struggling in this area as it is....

The TPC situation is interesting. Once it loses the Zurich, it seems the place better be well into a project to change the whole area around it into some sort of resort to attract visitors for getaways. Perhaps they can create a much-needed mini-lake and sandy beach for the area around there along with a typical spa/resort set up.

But the primary hurdle to the project being on hold has been cleared. Course construction seemed to be ready to bid out last February. But FEMA decided an archeological analysis of the property was needed to see if there were any Native American artifacts there similar to what was found in Bayou St. John.

Still don't understand why Federal Emergency Management Agency is involved.

Driving ranges are often temporarily built on other courses nearby for USGA events. Tour Stops just need the regular setup, which would occur here.

When the parish OK'ed the motorsports park nearby...that pretty much derailed any further development to that site IMO

The TPC may just be dead on arrival already...if the Zurich moves...thats it IMO...

The state owns TPC (which, to the best of my knowledge has never turned a profit) and has a 30 years lease signed with a management company to run the course. It's not going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

What does bertholomew charge???

Just saw this, they charge around $35 with cart on weekend. Not sure of exact rate but I know my son and I played it several times on weekends earlier this year and it ran me $58 for the two of us (they charged him as a junior)

They have a range with tees on both ends and a large practice green. No clubhouse but I hear they are beginning construction on it. Honestly the only fairly cheap places for public play in the area are North Course and Joe B. Westbank has Barriere, Lakewood is costly for many muni type golfers.

management agreements don't mean shite if the course is closed....just ask KMG about City Park

The state will pull the plug on that if it starts losing its arse which it inevitably will if they open City Park AND the Zurich moves

The PGA Tour will not be using the city park driving range for the tour players as it currently is constructed. That thing is a dump.

Bethpage Black's green fees are like $50 on weekends, $40 weekdays for NY residents. No way this course will be on the level of Bethpage.

Where people are going to park

They'll park in the same places they do for Jazz fest.

The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for this project is the attendance they would get if the Zurich (god forbid a major) is held there. It would be maybe one of the only tour stops in the country where people would be able to walk or get public transport from every direction to get there.

To get the idea, just imagine the alcohol sales they do at Jazz Fest.

yeah the only problem is that these two things are on the same weekend. you can't fit all those people in that area. there simply isn't enough parking. would be a gigantic clusterfrick, unless they moved the weekend of the tournament.
