Several things about noodling have never appealed to me:
1) Catfish that big are no good to eat.
2) The thought of sticking my hand inside something that I cannot see hoping a snapping turtle or GDKC doesn't decide my hand/arm looks good for their snack is simply insane.
3) One can't drink a beer and noodle.
Noodlers are like motorcycle riders for me.

#1 Wrong, Flathead catfish are good no matter the size because they eat live things.

#3 You're definitely not a professional beer drinker. You can drink beer in church on Sunday if want to.

Flat heads definitely eat live things but I'm not sure if their diet is exclusive to that.
Generally speaking though, "younger" things are better eatin.
Think about it. Cattle, deer, etc.

You know that myth that snakes can NOT bite you underwater. Well I guess this debunks that myth. It sounds like this all happened underwater. Screw noodling! Wish him a quick recovery.

Big flathead are great to eat. Especially the belly meat. Blue cats not so much. I don't keep big blues to eat. Flatheads have no eating size limit.
