He claims that he couldn't entertain the 11,000 fans (average attendance, which is bull shite) with UCLA style small ball.

So are the LSU baseball fans, who are only entertained by the home run, to blame for the short stay in Omaha?

Yes, it's the fans fault that we can't lay off high heat or field ground balls.

If that's true, the NCAA has helped programs with minimal following and revenue reach the upper echelons of national success. Assuming crowds follow that success, that's one way to make college baseball more viable at a national level.

Leaving runners in scoring position is as much to blame as anything. Team went cold at the wrong times.

You play to win, not entertain. He knows that.

It was probably said in jest. Even still, it would be stupid to change to a more small ball approach

The answer may lie in the ucla baseball attendance figures.

No, errors and not hitting with risp are why we went 2 and Q.

Not the style of baseball we play

Right so is it better to win the CWS or the highest attendance award

If I ran LSU, all I would care about are butts in the seats. The championships would just be gravy. I sure UCLA would gladly give up their spot in the nat champ series if it meant they would bring in LSU type revenue.

We went cold at the wrong time, it's unfortunate but it happens to even the best teams. Our flop at the CWS sucks, but we did have an incredible season.

You got that backwards. Championships = butts in seats.

No. Our refusal to play small ball had little to do with our performance in Omaha.

The lack of production from the heart of our lineup does

I answered your question

quote:

He claims that he couldn't entertain the 11,000 fans (average attendance, which is bull shite) with UCLA style small ball. So are the LSU baseball fans, who are only entertained by the home run, to blame for the short stay in Omaha?

Now you pose a different question .

Right so is it better to win the CWS or the highest attendance award

If PM doesn't keep attendance up he doesn't have to worry about the CWS. He won't have a job.
