1973 vs Coloado. We won 16 to 7. Talk with my date in Facebook 40 years later

1973, 9-0 LSU vs 9-0 Alabama. People were throwing Oranges trying to hit Bear Bryant leaning on the Goal Post in the South End Zone before the game. He never flinched and was never hit.
We also never won again that Season, losing this game to Bama, to Tulane the next week for the first time in 25 years, and Penn State in the Orange Bowl.
One of the Gumps claimed Championship Years, as they lost to ND in the Sugar Bowl, but still claim the NC because UPI didn't do a poll after Bowl Games.
Boy, was I a jinx.

1944 vs GaTech
My father and uncle took me with a last minute decision. I was 6. Bobby Dodd was a big time coach then for Ga Tech. They were in the SEC back then. Tech won 14-6, but it wasn't that close. I think Gaynell Tinsley was LSU's coach but not sure. I didn't see another one until 1956, when I started LSU. I saw Cannon, Johnny Robinson, and Warren Rabb play their senior year in high school. When they all signed with LSU you had to know LSU was on the way. Those three guys with others, plus Dietzel put LSU football on the map.

1979 LSU vs Moo State. Earlier in the year my dad and I had listened to the heartbreaking loss to the USC Trojans. I was 12 and dad promised me if they have a shot at a bowl, we will go to a game late in the season. We went to the state game..... LSU crushed them 21-3 and off to the Tangerine bowl. I remember that game solidifying me as a tiger fan for life! We tailgated with one of his professors, from when he was in school, in the chemistry building. Ham and cheese sandwiches! I ate ham and cheese sandwiches everyday for the next few years because of my fond memories of that game!
I still say it was at that game I decided LSU was the place for me. Ended up attending LSU in the late 80's.
Now it looks as if my daughter is following the same path. Except for her turning point game was the Arkansas game a few years back. We will see if she follows through on her love of LSU. She is only in 7th grade right now. However, since that game she says LSU is where she wants to go one day. My dad got us those tickets as well!
Geaux Tigers!

LSU 27-9 over Rice in 1973. Made my Dad stay til the last play...and he wasn't a big fan of sitting in traffic, but he sucked it up for me that night.

Oregon State in 1982. My grandfather saved the program and I still have it.

LSU vs. Wyoming in the 1968 Sugar Bowl at Tulane Stadium. We were visiting the grandparents in New Orleans for Christmas, and my dad took my older brother and me to the game. I didn't get to attend another LSU football game until I was a freshman at LSU in 1977.
