Are the restaurants at L'Auberge in Baton Rouge any good? If not, any suggestions for eating dinner downtown?

I haven't been to any, but I don't think I've heard anything bad.

Also - why go downtown if not lauberge? They aren't particularly close to eachother... Then again, lauberge isnt particuarly close to anything I guess...

Food at Stadium hasn't been bad, but the service has been horrid.

I hear 18 is overpriced and not that great.

Yeah I've been out of BR for too long because I for some reason thought L'Auberge was downtown.

I mean, it's far from downtown, but not THAT far.

Like I said, it's not particularly close to anything. Downtown is certainly an option considering it's an easy, straight shot all the way down nicholson. I would maybe consider heading to the Perkin's Rowe-ish area.

LA Lagniappe maybe?

Your best bet is Roberto's River Road Restaurant. Very good.

So we ended up eating at the buffet at L'Auberge. Can't say that I was impressed. The food was okay but definitely not worth 30+ dollars per person. They were having a difficult time keeping the buffet stocked and we stood in line for over 10 minutes waiting on people to get food. I haven't been to a ton of casino buffets but this one was set up weird. It seemed more like a cafeteria than a buffet. You couldn't really bounce around from station to station. You basically had to get at the back of the line and just wait for the others in front of you to move. Definitely won't be going back there again.

How did you go from being interested in good food to accepting a casino buffet? I could see if you just DGAF, but you started a thread looking for a good meal. Whoever made the decision to eat at a buffet would be scratched from the list of people I consult about dining options. If it was your choice, you just took the wat-too-easy way out.

Simular setup to almost every casino buffet I have been to.

No casino buffet is really worth 30 dollars except for a small handful of places. You get comps before ever diving in to those places.

Unless you are just planning on spending the night at the casino its certainly not a reason to go to the casino for.

There is not a place in that joint that I will eat again.

18steak is no better than Sullivans. Stadiums service will forever keep me away. Im not eating a casino buffet. Hate it, wish they had good spots.

I think the buffet at L'Auberge is fine. Its good for a casino buffet. They do a good job with crawfish which is far above the norm for a casino buffet. But its not something you go to unless you are going to the casino already though. Maybe the OP was going to the casino regardless.
