Are there still any dorms in the stadium? I would think not but am curious to confirm.

The rooms are still there but haven't been occupied in quite a few years.

There are plans to make them into a hotel. Would be outrageously expensive to strip them and redo them though.

It will happen one day.

its hard to see in the pictures but in person the new gates on the north side look pretty bad. the colors do not match the stadium at all. they spent a ton making the north end of the stadium looking great and i have no idea why they would put up this precast garbage that looks totally out of place.

Why do they not paint the pillars to match the stadium? Seems to conflict to me.

Speaking of Bama, earlier this week I met the mom of the head project manager for the company in Alabama handling the project (along with Lemoine Const.). Anyway, very nice lady from the coast, who pointed out that although an Alabama graduate, her son was, quote, "falling in love with Baton Rouge". I noted that somewhere deep in the bowels of the addition, where the structural integrity is not affected, we're sure to one day find "Roll Tide" stamped into the concrete....

I hope the place sounds like the DFW tarmac when teams venture into the south end zone.

My best friend lived in those unairconditioned rooms in 1969/70 and I was at Northeast at the time, but I came down for LSU games often and slept on a pallet on his floor for at least 2 games a year. Very hot,but a lot of fun. Those rooms could be remodeled into game day "For Rent" rooms for big donors and groups to pay for it, to use for bathrooms, party rooms, meeting rooms, for home games. Could be a source of money for LSU, if remodeled and planned right. I could think of about 10 friends who could put up $200 each for a private use room on game day. Food, drinks, A/C's, TV for other SEC games on cable TV,etc. Could be a money maker.

The expansion construction was actually ahead of schedule as of a couple months ago. Of course this is LSU/Louisiana and you know one way or another there will be construction crews out there 24 hours before the 2014 opener.

As for the west side, I wouldn't say another word about the pipe if it meant they would replace the "shades" on the club windows.

Thanks for the update .

It looks like they have most of the major stuff complete now. Just the rest of the more minor stuff to do between now and September. It'll be done in time and it's going to look fricking awesome.

You do realize it's scheduled for 2014 not this season?
